Welcome to the first Sound-In event of Summer – and this is the theme.

Summer was the theme of the oldest known English song – from about 1250.

Create anything related to summer, the solstice – whatever.

Of course other pieces are always welcome.

So let's make new music!

  1. James Bailey says:

James Bailey – Fanfare for the Sumer Man

    James Bailey – Summer Promenade

Two pieces for trombone – or parts thereof. The first uses the bell part only, played using an old-style rigid pipe input connection for a toilet tank which was connected using a short length of flexible nylon hosing. The resulting beast has the properties of a natural trumpet. Apologies to Aaron Copland for mangling his title. The second piece is the complete instrument (such as it is). and could be considered a representation of things encountered on a stroll during a warm summer evening.

  2. SmittyGlenn says:

Nah. Have no clue. About the same time the site got changed, Dropbox changed their crap. I've not been able to make anything work right since.

    • James Bailey says:

Do you use the free version of Dropbox? If so, the "Public" folder is no longer, um, public; it is only so on the paid version. I've switched over to alonetone.

        • James Bailey says:

Indeed, along with how to add pictures. So, if you do manage to store it somewhere else, the advantage here is that you can edit your post at any time, and just re-link; no more 15-minute time limit.

          • J.C. Combs says:

I'm still waiting to get a clear idea of what site allows free MP3 storage and also allows public sharing.  A lot of sites provide  a ton of storage but don't provide a straight up link.

  3. Bill says:

Bill Newbold third turtle effects 1

This song above's midi file is linked below for downloading.

    midi_export.mid

Bill Newbold third turtle cabbage work

this song is something mixed between the cabbage program and my sythe's and thier midi outs all the sound is captured into audactiy as the midi would only go to cabbage not the reaper file(I know it is possible to fix this)

    no videos with these yet.

    More?

Bill Newbold third turtle cabbage work 2

even more?   the of songs not included here is here

  4. Jim Goodin says:

Alonetone is down for the time being.  It appears maintenance but not sure.  What's another streaming host possibility any of you are using? Does WP if one pays?

    • J.C. Combs says:

I'm not sure.  The problem I have with the storage sites is they only provide encrypted links and the player therefore won't pick it up.  If anyone knows where to find a place that has a public dropbox-like sharing feature besides alonetone, let us know.

    • Jim Goodin says:

I did a piece this afternoon playing on Gershwin Summertime but can't post due to at being down. Lesson to get another option which researching. Summer Time and the living is easy, fish are jumping and the living is highhhhhhh..,.

  5. Jim Goodin says:

    Jim Goodin – Somer Tymn

My piece I wanted to post earlier but couldn't due to Alonetone problems.  Thanks to Rogers tip about Archive.org.  Seeing if this works.  This is a lose play on Gershwin's Summertime.  Sample loops created in Pure Data and live clarinet played on top, remixed.
